WHY THE JOURNEY
For several years I have been in and studied the wonderful field of education from many positions. In this time, I have seen a fear start to take hold among all stakeholders. This is simply wrong. In this journey together, we will reconnect the public to their schools, encourage openness, allow teachers to teach our standards through their creative abilities, interpret student achievement and progress with a multitude of features. It is also my goal to encourage school leaders to analyze and perform action research to enhance their schools in the way that best meets their situations.

As we just celebrated another July 4th in our great country, I found myself thinking how much I love the United States of America. Anyone who truly knows me personally, understands the depth of my love, loyalty, and desire to see America remain a great county dedicated to the principals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Today I’m announcing my candidacy to become the next state school superintendent of Georgia. This journey, that we will take together, will proceed with the desire to take our educational opportunities to the level of excellence in all areas. This journey will see the end of fear that has slowly crept into all levels of our educational system over the past few years, the end of not focusing on real skills for the real world, the end of students not having the opportunity for needed activity, and the end of bubble tests being the basis of our educational thinking.
